The bishops of France, gathered in their Assembly, voted on a proposal to provide support for adults who allege sexual violence committed by a diocesan cleric in the exercise of their ministry. The goal is to address the specific needs of these individuals, separate from the treatment of minors, and to establish a practice that offers recognition and restoration, even in cases where legal recognition of responsibility is not possible.

To encourage the conversion of the hearts and minds of all Catholic faithful, the bishops have requested that a message titled "Resolutely, let us continue to serve the truth!" on combating sexual violence in the Church be read or distributed in parishes as much as possible.

Elections:

• Permanent Council of the CEF:

  • President: Cardinal Jean-Marc Aveline, Archbishop of Marseille
  • Vice Presidents: Mgr Vincent Jordy, Archbishop of Tours, and Mgr Benoît Bertrand, Bishop of Pontoise.
  • Members: include various archbishops and bishops from different regions of France.

• General Secretariat of the CEF:

  • Father Christophe Le Sourt has been elected Secretary General.

• Doctrinal Commission:

  • President: Mgr Eric de Moulins-Beaufort, Archbishop of Reims, along with other members.

• Council for the Prevention and Fight Against Pedophilia (CPLP):

  • President: Mgr Gérard Le Stang, Bishop of Amiens.

• Council for Catholic Education:

  • President: Mgr Matthieu Rougé, Bishop of Nanterre, with Mr. Guillaume Prévost elected as Secretary General.
